Triathlon England Local Technical Officials Course

Every Club should have one! Would you like to help support your club event by becoimg the club event official? Would you like to officiate at your local or national events?

Then why not start your journey by booking a FREE place on your Local Technical Officials course!

Local Technical Official(LTO)
As a Local Technical Official you are qualified to be the chief race official at all pool based events and you are also able to assist a
Regional Technical Official (RTO) at open water based events.

To qualify to become a LTO you must complete at least four shadows at four BTF recognised events (two of them pool based).

Pre requisites:

  • You must be at least an associate member of Triathlon England.

  • You must be a minimum 16 years of age.

 

This is a FREE course, terms and conditions do apply, see below.

On completion of the qualification all northeast regionalmembers will be awarded £100 from the Northeast Committee. This is to cover the cost of any expenses incurred at the four shadow events.

Terms and Conditions: All applicants must complete the four shadows within 12 months of the course date, failure to do so will result in full payment of the courseamount to be paid to BTF within 30 days from when the invoice is issued.

Here at Tri Northumberland we thought you’d like to know that the 2012 events calendar is now confirmed and the events are now open. 2012 is a special year for the UK sport, why not join in and do something exciting, there’s bound to be something for you below. We’re excited to have new events for 2012 together with the popular established ones. Morpeth Duathlon, new for 2012, will prove to become a very popular event in future years so why not give this a go – you’ll be able to say “I did the first race”!
You will also notice that we are organising the events in collaboration with VO2max Racing Events, the established event crew and the Triathlon Club, so you can expect the same friendly service and high quality our events are noted for.
Morpeth Duathlon 9th April 2012
(Bank Holiday Monday) 7Km run / 29Km bike / 3.5Km run
Morpeth, often referred to as the county town of Northumberland is the venue for the inaugural Morpeth Duathlon. The historical buildings, gorgeuos surrounding countryside make Morpeth an ideal event location. More info and entry here.
Ashington Sprint Triathlon 7th May 2012
(Bank  Holiday Monday) 400m pool swim / 20Km bike / 5Km run
Ashington Triathlon is now in its 4th year and continues to grow every year, always selling out well before the event, being an ideal start to your 2012 multi-sport season and  attracting a wide range of competitors from all abilities, especially beginners. QE2 Sprint Triathlon 3rd June 2012
750m freshwater lake swim / 20Km bike / 5Km run
Traditionally the region’s first open-water triathlon of the season, this perennial favourite is held at the QE2 Country Park which boasts a 16 hectare lake surrounded by developing woodland and open grasslands which you can enjoy during the run. The bike passes the beautiful Northumbria coastline that won’t disappoint!  Event full last few years so enter early! More info and entry here.
Northumberland  Triathlon Festival 1st July 2012
Choice of OWS (750m/1500m/3000m) and Sprint and Standard Triathlons
If there was ever an ideal location to stage a triathlon event then Druridge Bay country park must fit into that category. The swim will be in the warm shallow freshwater Ladyburn Lake set in the park grounds a short distance from the sea. The bike route will take you along the beautiful rugged coastal route and footpath run winds it’s way through the woods and meadows that surround Ladyburn lake. More info and entry here.
Newbiggin Sprint Triathlon 9th September 2012
750m swim / 20Km bike / 5Km run
Set in the fishing village of Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, the atmosphere on the promenade run route makes this a great race and a fantastic finale to your season. Sold out last few years so enter early! More info and entry here.
Woodhorn Duathlon 28th October 2012
6Km run / 24Km bike / 3Km run
With a run course around the historic Woodhorn Museum and a great bike route, this is a fantastic event for all abilities and a superb end of season event. More info and entry here.

Triathlon Taster Sessions

Wednesday’s 6:30pm – 7:30pm

Starts Wednesday 8th February at Saltburn Leisure Centre

This is the Sportivate Try a Tri programme that is offering young people aged between 14 and 25 the opportunity to have a go at triathlon within Redcar and Cleveland.

  • Sessions will be delivered by fully qualified instructors from Cleveland Triathlon Club

  • Book now for £2 per week

  • Participants must be 14 to 25 years of age to take part

  • All abilities are welcome to attend.

Following the great success and the demand of the Try a Tri’s they are back!

The ‘Try a Tri’ programme is aimed at first timers and for those who fancy a new challenge, to get fit and healthy outside of the gym environment. The monthly programme will be led by British Triathlon coaches, with sessions catered to suit your individual fitness, goals and lifestyle. The triathlon sessions cover a mixture of swimming, cycling and running. Perhaps you would like to train to take part in a triathlon or come with friends to train together to do a team triathlon (one swims, one bikes and one runs). Whatever your goals are for 2012 - make triathlon a part of it. Both men and women canattend – age 14yrs +

Aim to compete in the Stockton Triathlon Mini or Sprint.

Try Triathlon 2012

‘Try Triathlon’ is aimed at first time athletes, for those who want a new challenge and to get fit and healthy outside of the gym environment.

The programme is led by qualified England Triathlon coaches, with sessions catered to suit your individual fitness, goals and lifestyle. The triathlon sessions will cover a mixture of swimming, cycling and running. There is limited space so make sure you BOOK EARLY. You will be required to book on all 4 sessions and it is recommended to attend all to get the full benefit of the programme. You will need to bring swimwear, running trainers and athletic wear for the first session. Further details will be provided at the first session.

Only £20 for all four sessions!

Nominations are invited for the 2011 North East

The North East County Sport Partnerships have been working together with support from the English Federation of Disability Sport and D&P Trophies to organise and develop the North East Disability Sports Awards 2011 on 22nd February 2012.

The awards will recognise the achievements of disabled athletes, groups, clubs and coaches in 2011.

There are 6 categories for the awards;

  • Male Personality
  • Young Male Achiever
  • Female Personality
  • Young Female Achiever
  • Club of the Year
  • Service to Sport Award
